Sejong Gukak Orchestra Starts the New Year with a Sweet Concert

The Sejong Gukak Orchestra will kick off the new year with their “Sweet Concert” at the 2024 Jeongwol Daeboreum Music Festival. The concert, organized in collaboration with the Gupo Cultural Foundation, will take place at the Su-ri Hall of the Gupo Cultural Arts Center in Gunpo on the 24th of January at 7 PM.

A Diverse Performance by the Sejong Gukak Orchestra

The Sejong Gukak Orchestra, led by the renowned conductor Park Sang-woo, known for his delicate interpretation and gentle charisma, will showcase a variety of performances. The concert will feature performances by Lee Moon-hee, the Ppuri Pae Arts Group, and the Akmaegi Taryeong vocalist Lee Eun-bi, offering a rich and vibrant stage.

A Performance Composed of Various Songs

The concert will consist of a diverse selection of songs. The first piece, “Hoofbeats,” is a lively and energetic creation of Gukak Orchestra. This will be followed by performances of “Akmaegi Taryeong” by composer Lee Chang-hyun and “Hongbo-ga Jung Park Taryeong” composed by Cho Seung-hyun.

The third piece, “Pasacalia,” is a captivating composition that combines the melodious sounds of the gayageum with the grandeur of the Gukak Orchestra. Singer Jang Sa-ik will perform “Azalea,” “Spring Day is Coming,” and “Flower Viewing,” accompanied by the Sejong Gukak Orchestra, providing the audience with a healing experience.

The fifth piece, “Pan Noreum,” is a creation of Gukak Orchestra in collaboration with the Ppuri Pae Arts Group, offering a delightful performance combining traditional object play and lively acting. The concert will conclude with a performance of “Festival of Folk Songs,” a compilation of traditional Korean folk songs.

A Message of Hope from Representative Kim Hye-seong

Kim Hye-seong, the representative and general director of the Sejong Gukak Orchestra, expressed his hope for a hopeful and prosperous year as they welcome the year 2024 with the powerful energy of the Blue Dragon.

The Sejong Gukak Orchestra, founded in 1992, has been dedicated to the study of traditional music and the exploration of new colors in Korean music for the past 32 years.
