The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, is recruiting companies and workers to participate in the “Worker Vacation Support Program.” This initiative aims to provide support for the domestic travel expenses of workers.
Under the program, workers who have saved 200,000 won will receive an additional 100,000 won from their company and the government, totaling 400,000 won in travel expenses. The accrued vacation funds can be used to purchase various domestic travel products through an online platform and mobile app.
The program is open to small and medium-sized enterprises, small business owners, non-profit organizations, social welfare corporations, and facility workers. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the online platform starting from February 1st. The goal is to support 150,000 workers, and the funds will be provided until they are exhausted.
The Worker Vacation Support Program has been running for six years and has seen participation from approximately 50,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and over 500,000 workers. Participants can use approximately 8.8 times the amount of government support funds for travel expenses, contributing to domestic consumption and showing high satisfaction.
Considering the positive effects of the program, the government has expanded the scale from an initial 90,000 participants to a maximum of 150,000 participants. This year, the focus is on increasing participation from private companies and expanding collaboration with public institutions and large corporations.
Participating companies can receive additional points or recognition through various government certifications, such as work-life balance certification, family-friendly certification, and work innovation incentive system. Outstanding participating companies may receive government rewards and have the opportunity to promote their company through a collection of exemplary cases.
Last year, the Worker Vacation Support Program received a high response, with over 100,000 applicants in just one month. This year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism encourages active participation from companies and plans to collaborate with local governments to provide more diverse and cost-effective regional tourism products.
Through the Worker Vacation Support Program, the Ministry aims to support workers in enjoying their vacations, stimulate domestic tourism, and contribute to the overall economy.
