South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Yu In-chon, participated in a New Year’s greeting event aimed at propelling the nation’s tourism industry. The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Association, took place at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul’s Jung-gu district. More than 200 industry professionals and representatives were in attendance.
The theme of the New Year’s greeting event was “The Power of Tourism: Building a Strong Tourism Nation Together.” It brought together government officials, tourism organizations, businesses, academia, and even students in the tourism field.
Notably, the event also honored individuals who made significant contributions to the advancement of the tourism industry in various areas such as aviation, transportation, shopping, guidance, and even peace efforts in the DMZ.
Minister Yu In-chon expressed his vision for the year, emphasizing the development of unique tourism content in areas such as performances, wellness tourism, and beauty. He aims to attract 20 million foreign tourists and achieve a significant leap towards making South Korea a leading tourism nation by the year 2024.
