South Korean startups are eagerly eyeing the opportunity to enter the US market through CES 2024, the key to their success in the Hallyu wave. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Korea Creative Content Agency, recently participated in CES 2024 held in Las Vegas to support these startups in their quest for US market expansion.
The joint event organized by CES 2024 and the Korean government provided a platform for South Korean startups to showcase their innovative ideas and connect with potential investors and partners. The event aimed to foster collaboration and facilitate business opportunities for these startups.
As part of CES 2024, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) organized the “KOCCA Night” event, which played a pivotal role in catalyzing the US market entry of South Korean content startups. The event facilitated meaningful interactions between domestic startups, US investors, and venture capitalists, exploring potential collaborations and investment opportunities.
The event witnessed the presence of high-ranking government officials, banking representatives, and industry leaders. Notable attendees included the Vice Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the CEO of Hanmi Bank, and the Silicon Valley Branch Manager of KDB Industrial Bank, among others.
The evening event commenced with a keynote speech by CJ ENM America’s CEO, who emphasized the importance of sustainable business models to enhance the global influence of the Korean content industry. Thirteen South Korean startups had the opportunity to present their businesses and network with industry professionals at the CES 2024 joint exhibition hall. Participating companies included Pobifo, Action Power, Clickt, Creative Mind, Designoble, DigiSonic, I-O Contents Group, Fluent, FxGear, IndieJ, NemoLab, Plum’d, and SoulX.
Industry leaders such as Kim Beom-su from Translink Investment and Klaus Behaghel from 10X Innovation Lab shared their wisdom and provided valuable advice to the participating startups. Their insights aimed to guide the startups towards growth and success in the competitive global market.
During the event, the Korea Creative Content Agency and Hanmi Bank signed a collaboration agreement to support the overseas expansion of domestic content companies. The agreement aims to establish a robust support system, including financial assistance and consulting services, to ensure a smooth entry into the US market for South Korean startups.
The collaboration agreement includes provisions for local account opening, customized loans, and consulting services by Hanmi Bank’s tax and accounting experts. These supportive measures will be provided through the Korea Creative Content Agency’s “2024 Launchpad” program, which is designed to assist South Korean startups in their global expansion efforts.
