‘2024 Geumho Rising Star’ Showcases Talented Individuals in the Korean Classical Music Scene

The ‘2024 Geumho Rising Star’ series is set to captivate the Korean classical music scene with a lineup of exceptional talents. The series, held at the Geumho Art Hall, will feature violinist Jeong Nuri, trombonist Seo Ju-hyun, guitarist Ahn Yong-heon, and baritone Kim Tae-han.

Contributing to the Development of Korean Classical Music

The Geumho Rising Star series aims to lead the way in the Korean classical music industry by introducing exceptional talents who will shape its future. Since its inception in 2004, the series has showcased over 80 rising stars, including violinists Lee Ji-hye, Lee Ji-yoon, Yang In-mo, and pianists Kim Da-sol, Kim Seon-wook, Kim Tae-hyung, and Sunwoo Yekwon.

Jeong Nuri: Opening the Series with a Mesmerizing Performance

Jeong Nuri, the second-place winner of the 2021 Premio Paganini International Violin Competition, will set the stage alight on the 18th of this month at the Seoul Geumho Art Hall. She will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Precious Memories” and Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 2. The audience can also look forward to Italian opera arias and variations, centered around Paganini’s works, as well as collaborative performances with pianist Jeong Ji-won.

Seo Ju-hyun: A Trombonist Making Waves

On the 25th, Seo Ju-hyun, who achieved the honor of being the first Asian to win second place in the trombone category at the 2023 Prague Spring International Music Competition, will grace the stage. Seo Ju-hyun will present compositions by various composers on the theme of “Space and Time.” The audience can also enjoy Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata, Brahms’ “F-A-E Sonata” (Scherzo), and works by Ravel and Slovakian composer Juraj Filas.

Ahn Yong-heon: A Diverse Showcase of Guitar Works

Ahn Yong-heon, the winner of the 2023 Valencia Alboraya International Guitar Competition, will take the stage on February 15th for the third installment of the Geumho Rising Star series. Ahn Yong-heon will present a wide range of guitar works, from passionate Spanish music to more unconventional compositions, showcasing the versatility of the instrument.

Kim Tae-han: A Vocal Journey

Kim Tae-han, the youngest winner of the 2023 Queen Elisabeth Competition, will conclude the series with a performance later this year. On July 25th, Kim Tae-han will present a selection of vocal pieces that will leave the audience deeply moved. More details about the program will be announced in due course.
