Kim Daegi, Chief of Staff to the President, has requested a police investigation into allegations of his involvement in corporate personnel matters. This investigation comes after the circulation of rumors through a publication called ‘Chirasi’.
According to a comprehensive report by Dong-A Ilbo on the 24th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Cyber Crime Investigation Unit has received a case in which Kim requested an investigation to identify the original author and distributor of the ‘Chirasi’ publication. The police have initiated a formal investigation. The ‘Chirasi’ publication contained allegations that Kim had intervened in the appointment of the chairman of Company A and spread rapidly throughout the political and business sectors.
Kim’s side, particularly concerned about the mention of his family in some ‘Chirasi’ articles, has decided to respond firmly. They have also requested an investigation into allegations that he pushed for the appointment of a close associate despite a low success rate in securing the hosting rights for the 2030 Busan World Expo. Kim’s side categorizes these allegations as “blatant falsehoods.”
The police have received the report and are currently tracing the original distributor of ‘Chirasi.’ However, a police official stated that they cannot disclose detailed information as the investigation is ongoing. The presidential office has yet to take a stance on Kim’s request for a police investigation.
