2023 Hanbok Culture Forum: In-Depth Discussion on the Future and Value of Hanbok

The 2023 Hanbok Culture Forum, organized by the Hanbok Promotion Institute of Gyeongbuk Cultural Heritage Foundation, will be held in Sangju, Gyeongbuk. The forum aims to raise awareness and interest in the beauty and traditional value of Hanbok, as well as enhance understanding of Korean culture and history.

Sponsorship and Objectives

The forum is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Sangju City. Its main objective is to promote the appreciation of Hanbok and its cultural significance, while fostering a deeper understanding of Korean traditions.

Keynote Speeches and Special Presentations

The forum will feature a keynote speech by Lee Hyung-ho, the director of the Hanbok Promotion Institute, who will discuss the future of Hanbok. Additionally, Professor Kwon Hye-jin from Ewha Womans University will deliver a special lecture on the topic of “Whose Hanbok will it be in 100 years?” Furthermore, Lee Kyung-sook, the director of the National Daegu Museum, will present on the spiritual and cultural significance that Hanbok should preserve.

Everyday Hanbok Exhibition

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the “Everyday Hanbok” exhibition, which showcases the integration of Hanbok into daily life. The exhibition will be open for viewing until January 31st of next year.
