Seoul, South Korea – The Seoul Western Park and Green Space Agency announced on the 5th that they will be hosting a nature art exhibition titled “2024, Make a Wish to Mir (Dragon)!” at the UNICEF Square in Peace Park, utilizing the Miscanthus sinensis grass. This exhibition will commemorate the Year of the Dragon.
In its 6th year, the Winter Art Exhibition, which makes use of the byproduct of the Sky Park in World Cup Park, aims to provide entertainment for visitors seeking winter attractions.
The “2024, Make a Wish to Mir (Dragon)!” exhibition plans to showcase large-scale sculptures of the Mir family, including a 4m-tall father dragon, a 3m-tall mother dragon, and a 2m-tall baby dragon, made of Miscanthus sinensis.
This year, citizens will have the opportunity to directly participate in the creation of the baby dragon sculpture.
On the 23rd, at the UNICEF Square in Peace Park, the process of creating the Miscanthus sinensis dragon using the traditional weaving technique called ‘Ieong-itchi’ will be demonstrated.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Seoul Metropolitan Government will recruit 30 elementary school students born in the Year of the Dragon (2012) through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website. Any elementary school student who wishes to participate in the creation of the dragon sculpture can apply.
Both elementary school students and their families residing in Seoul are eligible to participate, and there is no participation fee.
Yoo Yong-nam, the director of Seoul Western Park and Green Space Agency, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in completing this exhibition, hoping that citizens can feel the value and beauty of the park created together.
