The Seoul Dance Festival, organized by the Korean Dance Association, has announced the winner of its grand prize in the competition section. The prestigious award goes to the performance “도화는 서서히, 낙화는 나뉘다” by Seonheon Dance Company.
Choreographed by Choi Soo-jeong, “도화는 서서히, 낙화는 나뉘다” is a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous Korean folktale Chunhyang. The performance skillfully brings the tale to life in a modern context, captivating audiences with its artistic and technical achievements.
The performance received recognition not only for its compelling storytelling but also for the outstanding acting and choreography. Noh Jeong-sik of No Dance Project was honored with the award for Outstanding Acting, while the award for Choreography went to the same project’s “프랑켄슈타인” choreographed by Noh Jeong-sik.
Aside from the grand prize winner, the Seoul Dance Festival also acknowledged other exceptional works. “훌리건” by Jung Jae-woo and “우리는 이미” by Sun Seung-hoon, both choreographed by talented artists, were recognized as the best works by Seoul Dance Lab.
The Seoul Dance Festival, with the theme “Two Worlds, One Dance,” recently concluded its month-long schedule in Daehangno, turning the autumn season into a vibrant celebration of dance. The Seoul Dance Festival has established itself as a platform for both established and emerging dance artists to showcase their talent and experiment with new ideas.
