A Chinese official’s recent meeting with left-wing media companies has stirred up controversy due to his denial of the Uighur genocide. Huang Ping, the Chinese Consul General, visited Pennsylvania before meeting with high-ranking executives from one of America’s largest media companies, Conde Nast.
During his visit, Huang Ping, Chairman of the Chinese Consulate, discussed the growth of the Chinese market with Roger Lynch, the CEO, and Pam Drucker Mann, the Global Chief Revenue Officer. Conde Nast, the owner of popular brands like Vogue, The New Yorker, GQ, and Glamour, highlighted this meeting on their website, emphasizing the group’s focus on global business development and operations within China.
Huang Ping, in an official Chinese government publication, praised the mutually beneficial and strong cooperation between China and the United States. He also emphasized the robust demand and active development of China’s cultural industry.
Huang Ping, known for his controversial denial of mass killings and concentration camps targeting the Uighur population in China, referred to the Chinese Communist Party as the “great party.” Despite the contentious nature of his statements, he recently met with elected officials, scholars, and business leaders across the United States, including his activities in Pennsylvania.
Huang Ping also had meetings with Democratic Party senators, the Chester County Economic Development Committee, and professors from the University of Pennsylvania. This is not the first time Huang Ping has engaged with Democratic Party members; he previously met with Governor Kathy Hochul of New York, a Democrat, to discuss cooperation between New York and China.
Huang Ping’s visit to the United States comes at a time when concerns about China’s economic and strategic presence within the country are growing. Questions have been raised regarding China’s land purchases and encroachment on US military bases.
Fox News Digital reached out to both Conde Nast and Huang Ping’s office for comments but did not receive any response. Huang Ping’s office stated that his recent visit to Pennsylvania was part of regular consular duties aimed at enhancing cooperation and friendly communication between China and the United States.
Overall, the meeting between the Chinese official who denies the Uighur genocide and the media company has raised questions about the role of media in engaging with controversial figures. It also raises concerns about China’s actions and influence within the United States. The lack of response from Conde Nast and Huang Ping’s office adds to the uncertainty surrounding the meeting and its implications.
