Response to Disturbance Call

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the suspect’s mother, reporting her son’s violent behavior. When law enforcement agents arrived, the suspect, Ralph Buzi, initially fled the scene in a car.

Intentional and Malicious Actions

Shortly after his initial escape, Buzi returned and deliberately targeted the officers, leading to the characterization of the incident as an ambush attack. Despite commands to surrender, Buzi refused, prompting the officers to use a taser gun to subdue him. He was subsequently arrested and is now facing charges of attempted murder of law enforcement officers.

Surgery for Injured Officers

Carlos Brito and Manuel Santos, the injured officers, were urgently transported to Tampa General Hospital for emergency surgery. The community has expressed gratitude for their dedication and offered support during their recovery.
