A recent opinion poll conducted by the New York Times and Sienna College reveals that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), an independent candidate, is gaining more support among young Americans in swing states compared to President Trump and former Vice President Biden. The survey, which focuses on key battleground states, highlights RFK Jr.’s popularity among Americans under the age of 45.
According to the poll, RFK Jr. has a support rate of 34% among registered voters aged 18 to 29, surpassing both Trump and Biden. In this age group, Trump received 29% support, while Biden received 30%.
In the 30-44 age group, RFK Jr. garners 31% support, with Biden and Trump both receiving 30% support. However, among registered voters aged 45 and above, RFK Jr.’s support rate is lower.
Among registered voters aged 45-64, RFK Jr. has a support rate of 20%, trailing behind Trump at 41% and Biden at 31%. Among registered voters aged 65 and above, RFK Jr. received 17% support, while Trump received 37% and Biden received 39%.
The opinion poll indicates a growing popularity for RFK Jr. among young Americans, positioning him as a viable independent candidate for the presidency. Last month, RFK Jr. announced his decision to run as an independent candidate, emphasizing the need for change and unity among Americans. He has criticized politicians for promoting division and hatred among the people and aims to break free from corporate influence in government.
The survey results have generated interest in RFK Jr.’s independent candidacy among young Americans. However, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has maintained its support for Biden and declined to schedule preliminary debates between RFK Jr. and the incumbent president.
Despite the DNC’s stance, RFK Jr.’s increasing support among young Americans in swing states poses a substantial threat to Biden’s campaign. As the election season progresses, it remains to be seen how RFK Jr.’s rising popularity will impact the overall dynamics of the presidential race.
