The National Cultural Heritage Administration has announced the selection of 13 programs as part of the “2025 Traditional Culture Revival Support Project.” This initiative aims to preserve and promote Korean traditional culture and intangible heritage. Each program will receive up to 100 million won in funding, with equal contributions from national and local budgets.
Among the selected programs is “Making Our Rice Cake, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage,” which focuses on dessert development and supporting youth entrepreneurship. Another program, “Together with Youth in Chungbuk, Promoting the Traditional Liquor Culture,” aims to activate the traditional liquor culture through collaboration with young people.
The selection process involved evaluating 33 submitted programs based on their suitability, implementation capacity, and sustainability. The chosen programs cover a range of themes and regions, including Sokcho Arirang, Jeonju’s hanbok education, Seonamsa Temple in Suncheon, and Yecheon’s traditional holiday events.
Starting from 2025, the selected programs will be implemented through various forms such as exhibitions, performances, experiential events, education, and academic conferences. These initiatives aim to provide opportunities for local residents to experience and pass on traditional culture, contributing to the cultural pride of their communities.
The “2025 Traditional Culture Revival Support Project” is a significant step towards preserving and promoting Korean traditional culture and intangible heritage. By raising awareness of the importance of traditional culture and showcasing it to the world, these programs will enrich and diversify Korean cultural heritage while ensuring its continuous development in modern society.
