대전시, 시민의 기억을 담다: 생활사 자료 수집 프로젝트
대전시 announced the start of a project to collect citizens’ historical materials. The project, titled “Back in the Day, Us, at Jungang Department Store, Hongmyeong Market,” is organized by the Daejeon City Historical Compilation Committee. The goal of this project is to collect materials that can showcase the city’s past and the lives of its citizens.
The project will run until October 7th, and it encompasses a wide range of materials. These include old photographs, documents, memorabilia, maps, posters, tickets, and books. Particularly, Daejeoncheon, Jungang Department Store, and Hongmyeong Market are the main themes of this project, and materials related to these locations will be prioritized for collection.
The collected materials will undergo verification for duplicates and assessment of their suitability for research and exhibition purposes. After these processes, the materials will be digitized and stored in a digital archive, with copies returned to the contributors. Additionally, the collected materials will be featured in a book titled “History and Cultural Heritage” published by the Daejeon City Historical Compilation Committee.
Contributors will receive high-resolution digital records of their submitted materials. Furthermore, they will be rewarded with Onnuri gift vouchers worth 10,000 won. Those who possess valuable materials may be recommended to donate or contribute them to the municipal museum. This serves as an incentive for citizens to provide valuable materials and contribute to the preservation of memories.
Kang Byung-seon, the head of Daejeon City Cultural Heritage, emphasized the importance of Daejeoncheon, Jungang Department Store, and Hongmyeong Market in the city’s physical and cultural growth. He urged citizens to actively participate in “preserving memories through records” and “sharing memories through material contributions.”
Materials can be submitted through the internet site (https://m.site.naver.com/1qsoi) or via email ([email protected]). Citizens are required to fill out an application form along with the materials they possess. The collected materials will reflect the historical value of Daejeon City and contribute to the preservation of citizens’ memories.
This project plays a crucial role in preserving Daejeon City’s cultural heritage and documenting citizens’ memories. Daejeon City encourages citizen participation to reexamine the city’s past and strengthen its cultural identity.
Daejeon City’s efforts to record and preserve the city’s past through the collection of historical materials are commendable. The success of this project relies on the active engagement and participation of citizens, which will enrich Daejeon’s history and cultural heritage. Daejeon City takes a significant step towards connecting the past and the present through the collection of citizens’ historical materials.
