Musical actor Choi Jae-rim has addressed the controversy surrounding his overlapping performances, stating, “I always give my best with a heavy sense of responsibility in every show.”

On the 14th, Choi Jae-rim spoke at a press call for the musical “The Last Five Years” held at the Sejong Cultural Center in Seoul. He expressed that appearing in multiple productions is an honor for actors but also carries a weighty responsibility.

He stated, “Unfortunately, there was an incident where I was unwell and caused inconvenience to the team. However, I am personally grateful for the quick recovery and the ability to return promptly.”

Choi Jae-rim had been simultaneously appearing in the musicals “Les Misérables” in Seoul (November 30th to March 10th) and “The Phantom of the Opera” in Daegu (December 22nd to February 4th) while also rehearsing for “The Last Five Years.” However, he tested positive for COVID-19 on February 28th, leading to casting changes in both “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Misérables.”

Meanwhile, Choi Jae-rim, who has recovered his condition, flawlessly performed three numbers, including “See I’m Smiling,” “The Schumuel Song,” and “A Summer in Ohio,” at the press call for “The Last Five Years.” The musical will run at the Sejong Cultural Center S Theater in Seoul until April 7th.
