The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in South Korea is providing an exciting opportunity for art enthusiasts during the Lunar New Year holiday. From February 9th to 12th, the MMCA will be hosting the “National Contemporary Art Exhibition” (êµí˜„ë¯¸ì „), and visitors can participate in a special event through social media.
As part of the holiday celebrations, the MMCA will open its branches in Seoul, Gwacheon, Deoksugung, and Cheongju for free during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday. This initiative aims to offer visitors the chance to experience the rich cultural offerings of the MMCA.
Visitors can participate in the Lunar New Year event by visiting the MMCA and sharing a photo on Instagram with the hashtags “#êµí˜„ë¯¸ì „ì‹œ” and “#MMCA.” This social media event allows participants to showcase their visit to the museum and enter a lucky draw for a chance to win limited edition exhibition goods.
Through a lucky draw, 35 lucky participants will be selected to receive exclusive exhibition goods. Among the prizes, 20 winners will receive socks inspired by the tapestry artwork from the “Lee Shin-ja, Truly Drawing” exhibition. Additionally, 15 participants will receive block-shaped candles capturing the ambiance of the “MMCA Gwacheon Project 2023: Connection” exhibition. These limited edition goods will serve as special mementos of the MMCA experience.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, visitors to the MMCA branches can immerse themselves in a variety of captivating exhibitions. Noteworthy exhibitions include “Artist of the Year 2023,” “MMCA Hyundai Series 2023: Jeong Yeon-doo – A Hundred-Year Journey,” “Project Hashtag 2023,” “Kim Goo-rim” in Seoul, “The Most Serious Confession: Jang Wook-jin Retrospective” in Deoksugung, the Picasso Ceramic Collection, and “MMCA Cheongju Project 2023: An Sung-seok: For Everyone’s Well-being” in Cheongju. These exhibitions offer diverse artistic expressions that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
Notably, the “Jang Wook-jin Retrospective” and “Dongsan Park Ju-hwan Collection Special Exhibition” in Deoksugung and Gwacheon, respectively, will soon come to a close after the Lunar New Year holiday. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to visit these exhibitions before they conclude.
Kim Sung-hee, the director of the MMCA, encourages families to visit the museum during the Lunar New Year holiday and participate in the events. By immersing themselves in the world of art, visitors can create cherished memories and deepen their appreciation for the arts.
