According to data from Agoda, South Koreans have chosen Japan as their top overseas travel destination during the Lunar New Year holiday. The global travel platform analyzed its own booking data and revealed that South Koreans ranked first in terms of the number of travelers leaving the country during this holiday period.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, South Korean travelers flocked to Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. Agoda conducted a survey focusing on Asian and Pacific countries with traditional celebrations for the Lunar New Year, and these destinations emerged as the most popular among South Korean travelers.
Among the various cities visited by South Korean travelers during the Lunar New Year holiday, Tokyo and Osaka in Japan stood out as particularly popular choices. Additionally, many South Korean travelers also visited Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines. However, Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei, Bangkok, and Fukuoka attracted the highest number of travelers.
Agoda’s analysis revealed that Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam were the most visited countries by South Korean travelers during the Lunar New Year holiday. In terms of cities, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Seoul ranked among the top choices. Notably, Seoul secured the third spot among the most visited cities, particularly popular among Japanese, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and Singaporean travelers.
For those who stayed within the country, Busan, Jeju, Incheon, and Pyeongchang were the most popular domestic travel destinations for South Korean travelers during the Lunar New Year holiday. These cities showcased the diverse and captivating attractions that South Korea has to offer.
