The festival will showcase the talents of Kim Young-hee, an honorary performer of ‘Donghaean Byeolsingut’, as well as Kim Young-suk and Kim Dong-yeon, who are both heritage educators. Kim Seok-chul, who was born in Heunghae-eup, Pohang, is one of the inheritors of ‘Donghaean Byeolsingut’. From a young age, Kim Seok-chul ventured into business and established the Se-seopmu family along with his daughter. He expanded his activities to Gangwon Province and Busan, and now continues to pass down the traditional customs and rituals of the fifth generation in the Donghaean region.

Expanding the Reach

While the current location for the preservation of ‘Donghaean Byeolsingut’ as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage is in Gijang-gun, Busan, it is also actively transmitted in the coastal areas of Songla-myeon and Guryongpo-eup in Pohang. The Donghaean Byeolsingut Preservation Society plans to provide an interesting and captivating performance during this festival, highlighting the local characteristics and charm of Pohang.
