South Korea’s Daegu Libraries Promote Reading Culture Through Mobile Librarian Support Program

Daegu’s Ansim and Sincheon Libraries have been selected for the “2024 Mobile Librarian Support Program” to enhance the reading culture in the region. The Daegu East District Cultural Foundation plans to recruit qualified librarians to operate reading culture programs in six public small libraries from next month until November.

Mobile Librarian Support Program for Small Libraries

The Daegu East District Cultural Foundation has chosen Ansim and Sincheon Libraries for the “2024 Mobile Librarian Support Program” which aims to support small libraries through mobile librarian services. This program is designed to provide support to small libraries by connecting them with public libraries nationwide.

Benefits for Ansim and Sincheon Libraries

As part of this program, Ansim and Sincheon Libraries will receive full financial support amounting to 50 million KRW (approximately 44,000 USD) for personnel expenses, visitation activities, and conducting reading culture programs. Starting from next month until November, these libraries will be operating reading culture programs in six local public small libraries.

Determination of the Daegu East District Cultural Foundation

Yoon Seok-jun, the director of the Daegu East District Cultural Foundation, expressed his commitment to elevate the professionalism of small library operations and establish the region as a hub for reading culture. This initiative is expected to further develop small libraries in the Daegu East District.
