The recent excavation at the planned construction site of an apartment complex in Ulsan’s Jung-gu has revealed a treasure trove of artifacts spanning from the Bronze Age to the Joseon Dynasty. The excavation, conducted on a large scale, has uncovered 1246 cultural relics, including burial sites and artifacts related to production and daily life. Currently, LH (Land and Housing Corporation) is in the process of designing the park and exhibition halls, which will cover a total floor area of 2100㎡, with one underground floor and two above-ground floors.

In order to elevate the historical value of Ulsan and Jung-gu, Ulsan City Council member Hong Young-jin has proposed utilizing the excavated artifacts. Hong Young-jin suggests expanding the exhibition halls and constructing a museum-level facility to not only enhance the value of the history and culture park but also serve educational purposes. The successful integration of the Down-dong site into the Taehwa Historical and Cultural District relies on the collaboration between LH, Ulsan City, and Jung-gu.

Construction and Completion Schedule

The construction of the history and culture park, along with the exhibition halls, is expected to commence in 2026. LH aims to complete the project by the first half of 2028.
