Kangdong Art Center to Showcase Diverse Programs for a Year of Artistic Celebration in 2022

The Seoul Kangdong Cultural Foundation announced that the Kangdong Art Center will present a variety of programs to kick off the new year. The upcoming programs will feature a range of content, from premieres to performances by renowned artists.

Theatrical Performances by Masters of the Stage

In February, the Kangdong Art Center will stage the play “Waiting for Altitude,” directed by O Kyung-taek. The cast includes actors Shin Gu, Park Geun-hyung, and Park Jung-ja. Additionally, the center will also showcase three Asian premieres and one domestic premiere this year.

Performances by Maestros of Classical Music

The Kangdong Art Center has scheduled a recital by pianist Baek Geon-woo and a concert by renowned pianist Maria João Pires. Pires’ performance is said to be her last opportunity to perform in South Korea.

Diverse Exhibitions

The Artlang, a multipurpose cultural space within the Kangdong Art Center, will host an exhibition by Germany’s first-generation pop artist, Jim Avignon. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy the Universal Ballet’s performance of “Swan Lake” and a concert by the Munich Chamber Orchestra.

Family Series Performances

The Kangdong Art Center has also prepared various performances for children and families. A total of nine productions, including “Splash! Kids’ Classics,” “Candy,” “Musical Catch! Teeny Ping’s Exciting Sing-along Concert,” and “In the Land of Shoemaker,” will be available for viewing.

Other Programs

Additionally, various performances such as “Thursday Art Stage,” “Night Stroll of Performances,” “Youth Summer Music Concert,” and “Matinee Concert Romantic Dream” will be presented.

Residents of Kangdong-gu and visitors to the Kangdong Art Center will have the opportunity to enjoy special viewing experiences. The center is making efforts to become a representative art center in the southeastern region of Seoul.
