The incident occurred at 10:29 AM when Lee Jae-myung, the governor, was inspecting the planned construction site of Gadeok Airport. After completing the on-site inspection and answering questions from reporters, Lee was walking towards his vehicle when Kim approached him, demanding a signature.

Despite efforts by security personnel to prevent the approach, Kim suddenly brandished a weapon and stabbed Lee in the neck. The suspect was wearing a headband with the words “I am Lee Jae-myung” and holding a picket sign that read “200 seats in the general election.”

Emergency Treatment for Lee Jae-myung

Lee, who suffered significant bleeding, collapsed at the scene and received emergency medical treatment for about 20 minutes before being transported to Busan Seo-gu Busan University Hospital. Fortunately, he remained conscious throughout the ordeal. Due to concerns about damage to the carotid artery, he was transferred to Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, where surgery was scheduled for 1 PM.
