Nowon District in Seoul has announced the opening of the ‘2024 Nowon Sledding Park’ on January 1st, 2024. The park, located on the grounds of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, aims to provide a winter-themed park where families can enjoy various activities.
The Nowon Sledding Park will feature large and small sled slopes, an ice rink, a snow play area, ice fishing, and a game zone. The large sled slope measures 90m in length with 10 lanes, while the small sled slope is 45m long with 6 lanes. Visitors can enjoy sledding using dedicated tubes without any additional rental fees.
The ice rink, measuring 30m×20m, will operate seven times a day and offer skate and protective gear rentals for a fee. In the snow play area, visitors can build snowmen and snow ducks, and plastic sleds will be available for free rental. For those interested in ice fishing, fishing rods will be provided, allowing families to catch fish together. Participants can pay an additional fee to have their caught fish fried and enjoy it at the indoor snack bar.
In addition to the thrilling activities, the Nowon Sledding Park will also offer various entertainment facilities, including instant photo studios, a 4D video experience hall, a VR experience hall, air hockey, and arcade games. Visitors can also enjoy traditional games and experiences such as yutnori, archery, spinning tops, and making traditional Korean sweets.
Parents can take a break and enjoy snacks such as ramen, donkas, chicken skewers, tteokbokki, and drinks at the snack bar while resting in the lounge area.
The Nowon Sledding Park will be open from January 1st to January 31st, operating from 10 am to 5 pm, except for specific closure dates. Nowon District residents, Seoul National University of Science and Technology students and staff, and children under 36 months can enter for free. Non-residents will be charged an entrance fee of 2,000 won and must provide proof of residence.
To ensure the safety of visitors, Nowon District has implemented safety measures, including the deployment of 29 certified safety officers and the operation of a separate office for safety management. Regular inspections will be conducted to maintain the safety of facilities, food hygiene, and cleanliness of the event area.
The opening ceremony of the Nowon Sledding Park will take place at noon on January 1st, featuring a special performance by national figure skating representatives, Yeon Chaeyoo and Yoo Yeeun.
On February 1st, the day after the opening, a daily sledding park exclusively for disabled families will be opened, providing them with an opportunity to enjoy the facilities.
