President Yoon Jong-in has highlighted the importance of adhering to market principles in the process of redevelopment and reconstruction. Speaking at the 55th Cabinet Meeting in Sejong City, President Yoon stated that “in particular, in the exercise of collective property rights, decision-making should be based on the residents’ freedom of choice.” He also emphasized the government’s commitment to applying market dominance principles in future redevelopment and reconstruction efforts.
President Yoon has announced plans to concentrate on supporting the service industry as a means to revive domestic consumption. Recognizing the interconnection between export-driven economic recovery and people’s livelihoods, the government aims to provide comprehensive policy support for industries preferred by the younger generation, including finance, biotechnology, tourism, and food. These efforts are expected to contribute to the revitalization of local economies and the creation of high-value-added jobs.
Minister Yoon acknowledges the pressing issue of the low birth rate and emphasizes the necessity of comprehensive reforms in the education sector. Specifically, he highlights excessive competition within the education system as a direct cause of the low birth rate and calls for focused efforts to rectify this issue. Chairman Yoon also underscores the importance of evidence-based analysis and universal support as effective incentives for promoting childbirth.
Chairman Yoon urges the prompt improvement of criteria for calculating health insurance premiums for local residents. He expresses concern over the increased health insurance premiums for retirees, despite their reduced income, as well as the excessive insurance premiums imposed on property and automobiles. Chairman Yoon emphasizes the need for fair and rational systems that can quickly address the concerns and grievances of the public.
