“새로운선택” and the third power established a coalition party called the “Third Alternative Alliance Party,” which aims to bring together rational progressivism and reformist conservatism. Kim, the appointed co-representative, stated in his acceptance speech, “If we cannot change the winner-takes-all presidential system that has dominated since 1987, our politics cannot progress even an inch further. In the next general election, we will secure 30 seats to fundamentally transform South Korean politics. In the 2027 presidential election, we will challenge for power based on our achievements until then.” Cho Sung-ju, formerly of the Justice Party, stated, “I will ensure that the quiet yet great voice of the citizens resonates throughout our politics.”
