30th National Children’s Theater Festival Opens with Online and Offline Competitions

The 30th National Children’s Theater Festival is set to begin after a four-year hiatus, with the event featuring both online and offline competitions. Organized by the festival committee, the opening ceremony will take place on the MetaVerse platform ‘GatherTown’ located in Daehangno, Seoul.

Competition Details

Following the opening ceremony, the main competition will be held from the 27th to the 30th of this month. A total of eight schools and 101 talented children will compete in the finals. The performances will be held at the Hanyang University Theater in Daehangno, both offline and online through the GatherTown platform.

Celebrating Tradition

The National Children’s Theater Festival, the only national children’s theater competition in the country, has been held since 1992. Over the past 30 years, teachers, artists, educators, and students from various regions have actively participated in this esteemed event. This year, the preliminary competition saw the participation of 50 elementary schools and 704 children.

Hosts and Awards

The festival is co-hosted by the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People and the Korean Association of Educational Theatre. The award ceremony will be held on December 2nd at 10 am, with a live-stream available on the GatherTown platform and the Asiteji Korea YouTube channel.
