Democratic Candidate Requests Recount in Virginia House of Delegates Election

In a dramatic turn of events, Kimberly Pope Adams, the Democratic candidate for the Virginia Central House of Delegates, has requested a recount. The election results revealed a razor-thin margin of only 78 votes between Adams and the incumbent Republican candidate, Kim Taylor.

Close Margin Raises Doubts

Adams believes that the result is too close to confidently declare a winner. “The residents of the 82nd district have the right to know who the true victor of this election is, and Virginia law guarantees that right. That is why I am calling for a recount,” Adams stated.

Kim Taylor, who has served in the House since 2022, had previously declared victory in the primary election. The fiercely contested 82nd district includes parts of Petersburg, Surrey County, Prince George, and Dinwiddie County.

No Significant Impact on Power Balance
